Everyone should have a Fargin Ice Hole
Hi, I’m Cupcake. I’m not sure what’s going on. My parents are not feeling well and so I’ve been sent to Camp Erkkila for the summer. I was very happy until I found out there are three other dogs there, but it turns out they’re not so bad (except maybe the big one, Sobe; she’s scary and sometimes barks really loudly). I think I could almost get used to the one that is my size (his name is Icky), and the littler one (Grep) and I can just avoid each other.
Today was my first full day and boy am I tired. Last night I slept in my own spot on a bench next to Uncle Paul’s side of the bed; I even got fresh air since I was right under the window! But later I decided to sleep in the bed between Uncle Paul and Aunt Erica. In the morning I was startled to find Icky sleeping next to my back; I jumped straaight up and then we all got up. We walked out out back and Aunt Erica opened a little red building and kept going in and out carrying these fat, tasty looking birds that said ‘Peep’ and sometimes ‘Bawk!’ and putting them in a little pen. Uncle Paul said I could look inside but that I couldn’t go in there because I’d get my feet all dirty.
Then Uncle Paul got on a big loud machine and rode around, while Aunt Erica, Icky, and I went on a LOOOONG walk down the hill after him to Great Aunt Nancy’s house. For some reason they told me I could sit in the shade drinking water while they buried long black tubes in the ground and stuck leaky plastic things in them. Icky says I should call people ‘monkeys’ and I can see why–they’re crazy standing around in the hot sun doing that. Great Aunt Nancy was nice though, she drove us home afterwards so we wouldn’t have to walk all the way up the hill in the hot sun.
I don’t think I’ve walked so much in one day in a long time. I didn’t even get a chance to christen the rug–I’ve had to do everything outside. On the plus side, they have a box in the window that shoots out cold air. Icky says it’s called the ‘Fargin Ice Hole’ and sometimes I like to lie down right under it. Icky says I’m crazy; the only box I should sit near is the one that makes warm air. I think everyone should have a ‘Fargin Ice Hole’.
Later on the pizza guy came–I thought he only went to my mom and dads’ house but apparently they visit lots of people! I asked Erica for lots of pizza (I put my head in her lap and everything) but she only gave me a few little bits. She told Grep and I we could stand to lose some weight and Grep told her so did she, so she should hand it over! But she didn’t go for it. But the food they’re giving me at meals is very good and filling. Fortunately I’m feeling better than I did yesterday, when I left a surprise for Michelle in her kitchen! Sorry Michelle and Josh!
Anyway, with all this walking, I’m feeling a little sore and tired. I’ve got a nice spot on the couch near the monkeys; too bad Sobe wants to share it with me (but I’ll let her, so long as she doesn’t sniff me or bark at me). But if they wanted to take me out again I probably would–there are so many neat things to smell around here!
